Interview with Author Ellyn Oaksmith
Today I am presenting a video interview with an author, screenwriter and fabulous woman, Ellyn Oaksmith. I originally met Ellyn when our children went to elementary school together. We recently became reacquainted through a friend because of our many common interests. You see, Ellyn is a wife, a mom, a friend, a sister and a powerful woman who just GETS IT. Do you have that type of friend? The one with a sharp wit and the comedic outlook on life that brightens the room with her presence? Well, that IS Ellyn. In our interview we talk about her new book, Adventures with Max and Louise, a humorous story about one woman’s journey through an unfortunate mishap in her life. We are featuring this book on our site as well if you want a good read for the summer. I love this interview because it is light and relaxed – just like hanging with a dear friend chatting about life and the humor in all of our adventures. Enjoy!
Ellyn Oaksmith was born in Seattle, Washington, attended Smith College and The American Film Institute in Los Angeles where she received her MFA. Ellyn has written and optioned several award-winning screenplays, including “The Secret Lives of Fish,” and “Mrs. McGoorty.” To support her writing career, Ellyn has worked as cook on a fishing boat in Alaska, a preschool teacher, a waitress and limerick writer. She lives in Kirkland, Washington with her two children and husband. Ellyn appeared in the 2010 May issue of “O” Magazine where she was one of ten women to spend three inspiring hours interviewing Oprah. Ellyn is at work on her second novel.
