Proud To Be Me

It’s not easy being a plus-sized woman, but then again, it’s not easy being a woman. We are bombarded by beauty adverts, plastic surgery, and diets. When you pick up a magazine, for the plus size women, we are also hit with the negative wording that often hounds our plump kin.

I’ll start off by saying I’m quite proud myself and of my size. We all know that the beauty industry can be a cruel and a very visually based world, so being a plus-size model, I find it so empowering to stand here. Where appearance is everything, breaking down beauty barriers can make or break you. I will not be broken. I will stand and fight for my plus lovelies, for those who feel like they do not fit in because they don’t fit the beauty stereotype.

I may never be a catwalk or catalogue model in my lifetime, and that’s OK. I was blessed with a height of 5-feet, 3-inches and will use what I was given. I choose to use my stance to stand up, to be a Pin-up against bullying and discrimination. I choose to provide a voice and be an ear for those who are too shy or scared to speak.

Big is beautiful, as cliché as that is. I choose not to let a size define who I am and so should every single one of you. I am proud to be me. I aim to inspire women to be proud of themselves. Because why shouldn’t you be?

Think of all the amazing things that you have done in your life. Think of all those boundaries you have overcame. In fact the very first achievement you have done in your life was being born. Because you are fantastic, you are beautiful. You can be anything you set your mind to being. You need to believe in yourself and keep believing.

In this beauty focused world never give up on being yourself.

Because I will never give up on you.
