I Am Invincible
Very often while experiencing a mental health problem, we start thinking it’s going to stay with us for the rest of our lives. I think that’s the hardest part. At least, that’s how it felt for me while going through anxiety. It’s when we actually start believing the stories we are telling ourselves about living an entire life like this. The stories that make us feel like there is no hope and make life feel like it’s without a dream to fulfill.
Throughout this poem, I wanted to change the story I was telling myself. Instead of saying, “I am hopeless,” I wanted to say, “I am invincible.” I wanted to say something beautiful, something inspiring, something I always knew was true deep down in my heart. Why is it so hard for us to say uplifting and loving things to ourselves and about ourselves? The thing is, we become so used to the self-talk that puts us down that we sometimes forget to say at least one kind word toward ourselves.
Please check out my poem in the video below:
Mental health is a very important subject for me, and I think it’s also important to discuss it. Writing this poem was such an inspiring experience, I wanted to share it with someone else. I created this video with the kind help of a friend. Everything about it from writing the poem to painting the flowers and performing was so joyful. I hope it feels the same for you to watch it. Thanks for watching it and for being here! Together, we learn to be more loving and uplifting—first of all, toward ourselves.
With love and appreciation,
Sandina
